47-year-old Mercer man pronounced dead after accident

The Missouri Highway Patrol says a man died in a wreck over the weekend.

The Patrol says 47-year-old Gregg Widner, of Mercer, wrecked on US 136, three miles east of Princeton, at 2:18 p.m. Friday. Authorities say Widner was driving a 1992 Ford Grain Truck that attempted to pass 39-year-old John Wells, of Princeton, in his combine. The truck struck a bridge rail, traveled off the road, and overturned. Widner was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected.

Widner was taken to Roberson Funeral Home in Princeton and was pronounced dead.
